Westside - Good take-out?
We're bringing food to a friend's home - nobody has the energy to cook.
Any thoughts as to what is good / holds up well?
Please don't say Whole Foods - I'm not a fan of their prepared food....
Thanks so much.
Clementine, and they do curb side pick up so you never even have to leave the a/c seat of your car (how much more LA can you get!).
ADD:And if you happen to be doing this on a Friday check out their summer BBQ special menu here: http://www.clementineonline.com/texts...
1751 Ensley Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024
Suzanne Goin's new place, Tavern in Brentwood has very good take out. Rosti in SM and BH have very good ready-to-go entrees, particularly their roasted chicken.
for take-out, there are incredible options
Il Moro - get the bar menu food and it' won't be too expensive
other places for take-out:
La Botega - italian on santa monica
Monte Alban - oaxacan/mexican
Even Nook does take out
Chan Dara is ok.
Shamshiri -- persian is great and enjoy the takout. I like Javan also.
The BEST take-out Jamaican food is on La Brea Ave in Inglewood, Hungry Joe's. FORGET the rest, this is the BEST! Want Ital food, REQUEST what you want on the plate, they fix it. Curry goat, Cow foot is my favorite and when I can't decide between the two dishes, they fix 1/2 of each.
Hungry Joe's on LaBrea Ave in Inglewood. The Best in spicy, the best in ITAL food, and they put what You want on the dish, just ask. Jamaican food like in Jamaica, not something just for tourists..
2 recs for takeout on the Westside come to mind:
Ono Hawaiian BBQ, on the corner of Santa Monica & Bundy - Decent takeout Hawaiian. They offer a family feast, which is quite good.
Versailles (Cuban) - Two locations on the westside: (1) La Cienega & Pico and (2) on Venice. I think the food at the La Cienega & Pico location is better.
Get their arroz con pollo & batidos...
