Farms around Hartford-Foodies where are you hiding?

I want foodies from and around Hartford to steer me in the right direction going there for 2 weekend,s husband will be working and I will be exploring. I love anything more on the organic style, farms to visit , foodie secrets, great breakfast, lunch, dinner, bakeries and foodie place you Must go to. Any places to kayak and kayak up to a restaurant without being in serious swells? Thank you in advance for all you help. I am willing to travel 30 minutes from downtown Hartford. Also any great farms that make incredible cheese?

I'm not a kayaker, so forgive the potential idiocy of this response, but is it possible to kayak up to the back of Apricot's in Farmington?

      Also
you could kayak from Middletown to Blue Oar on the river in Haddam - they have ramp and piers to tie up to......right up river from the Goodspeed

Wow, I never even thought of the potential to kayak up to somewhere in CT.
The Closest I can think of would be kayaking in Collinsville, then eating at the Crown and Hammer which is practically on the Farmington River (where you'd be kayaking in this suggestion). I don't believe you can "pull up" there to eat.

whatever you do do, let us know.

The Coventry Farmers market is wonderful. www.coventryfarmersmarket.com They are a regional market, so they have vendors from all over. It is every Sunday from 11-2. I look forward to it all week.

There are 3 farms that sell cheese that sell their products there - beltane farms out of lebanon is my favorite. Their chevre is amazing.
