Unicorn Polish Bakery, Vernon CT

Pulled off I-84 heading west toward Hartford and noticed this bakery in a little stripmall right as you get off the exit - We ended up getting two GREAT babkas - one traditional with just raisins, which was perfect, not too moist, not too dry, a tiny bit sweet, very fresh - and one with cheese and strawberry which was more cakey, in that cheese-filled style, and every bit as good. So fresh and moist. The family pretty much downed it in a day.

Also got some great tasting home-smoked kielbasa.

My traveling companion noted that the staff was very friendly to us non-Polish speakers, which is a pleasant change from the more typically gruff service one might get at other Polish bakeries.

They also had several rolled-stuffed breads on the shelf that they were cutting to order that looked great.

I definitely recommend checking it out.
