New Jazz Club Coming to the South End
Just discovered that a new jazz club and restaurant will be moving into the spot on Columbus Avenue where Bob's Southern Bistro used to be. I haven't been able to get the name of the place yet--has anyone else heard about this?

The place that was Cirlce will be called the Stork Club. It was recently written about in the Herald however I can't remember when they said they hope to open.

I spoke with the manager....they are shooting for a 8/11 opening. Chef Jeff Poliseno
is heading the kitchen and Ziad Chamoun from the Barking Crab is the manager....-

re: Science Chick
Not familiar with him - google shows he was at Vox Populi, but I never ate there. The search also turns up the tidbit that prices at the new Stork Club will be in the $7 - $17 range, which is quite reasonable - and wise, for a restaurant opening in this economic climate. Probably also a cover charge for the music though.

re: Science Chick
Vox Populi's food is quite forgettable, but nobody goes there to eat. I don't think this should be held against a non-owner chef: you work within whatever constraints are placed on you. His work at Stork Club should be assessed on its own merits.

re: Allstonian
They are advertising for help on Craigslist, and I called the number on the website. It said they were reopening soon. Here are other pages from their website:

Not sure if the menu is different from their previous one. Perhaps other hounds remember???

re: Science Chick
That menu looks awfully reminiscent of the old one: fairly expensive, elaborate French food, the unusual variant spelling "coulette steak" (I've more frequently seen it as "culotte", the French term for tri-tip). That was possibly the worst-timed opening of a Boston restaurant concept in memory.

re: Bob MacAdoo
Well, on the walk-by tonight there were def'y signs of activity, though nothing that seemed substantial which leads me to believe the interior will remain more or less the same.

Experience, commitment to teamwork and good service are "preferable" and apparently not a requirement for the job. FYI.

hey hiddenboston.....what's your source on this? I recall that a jazz club was initially slated to go in there, but it never materialized. I can't recall the name, but IIFC they were even to the point of advertising for kitchen/waitstaff. This would be terrific news.......
