Question about frozen Perdue chicken breast @ Costco

To all of you who shop at Costco and have frozen perdue chicken breasts available from their freezer section -- do you think they are of acceptable quality?

I always buy fresh chicken breast (perdue or the monster-sized grocery store brand), bring it home, wash it, pat dry it, trim it, remove the tenderloins, pound it out and basically have to prep it all myself. This only has to be done once every few days, but it takes a good 30 minutes or so. Costco sells a 10 lb bag of frozen, flattened individually packaged perdue chicken breasts that look like they would work very well for me. They're called "select size" chicken breasts or something. The 10 lb bag in my area averages to about 2.30/lb, so the entire bag is a little over $23.

Just wondering if anyone else has bought the 10 lb bag before (or any frozen "select size" perdue chicken breasts) and enjoyed them. Thank you!

  1. I buy them and think they are very good. They are usually uniform in size, plump and very good quality (like no freezer burn and lots of chickeny taste. I like to have them around because they thaw very quickly and they are individually frozen so there is no breaking them apart. And, i case you are interested, their calorie count is slightly lower than breasts you buy raw in the store. There is hardly any fat.
