New(?) Taqueria in Richmond/San Pablo
Last week a flyer showed up on my porch from "Americana Pizza & Taqueria." The flyer contained a menu with no "American food" and no pizza. The restaurant says it's been in business since 2000, but I've never heard of it: It's at San Pablo Ave. and Dam Road, and I drive by there all the time.
The Taqueria says it's open 24/7 and offers free delivery (or, presumably, eat in). The menu is rather expansive and reasonably priced for a "taco joint" in the area: 11 different nacho combos, 8 special quesadillas, 11 special burritos, 20 combination plates, plus tortas, tacos, and tamales. Ten different meats for the fillings, with all the usual suspects including lengua.
Anybody know this place? If yes, how does it compare to other nearby places (taking, say, Portumex as point of comparison)? I ask primarily because to-go with free delivery is of interest. But it's hard to believe it could (or should, given the area) really be open 24 hours a day.
It is the best Mexican food you can get delivered to your door at 3 am in the morning in San Pablo ... given it is the only Mexican delivery at 3am ... well.
Here's my report from 2006. I doubt much has changed.
Given what it is, it doesn't have to be as good as it. is. I wouldn't choose it over any of the other Mexican / Pizza restaurants in the area when they are open. However, off-hours they are ok.
Now what I really want to know is if anyone has been to "Wild Boar Wednesday" at the Casino. This always makes me wonder when I drive by ... Wild Boar ... really? Or just pork from FoodMax across the street.

We've ordered delivery from there a few times. It's good, not great. Definitely not as good as Porto-Mex, or most of the other places on 23rd, but delivery is a nice plus. The pizzas are good. We prefer Round Table for delivery options in the area but sometimes it's a good change, especially if you want nachos and a burrito with it!
I recall that I may stopped in there once - maybe once about 5 years ago and it was nondescript. .I believe that it is the place near the side San Pablo Ave. exit from the Lucky's shopping center. 24 hours makes sense around there because it is near the hospital, with a lot of people on odd shifts, and also a 24 hour Nations.
