634018 Sun Jul 05 05:01:59 -0700 2009 1 13 General New England Archive 0 4830519 Long a favorite of family and friends the large, bright space reopened in May after being closed for more than 10 years. Luckily the building was never torn down. New owners did a great job in the renovation. We went for dinner last night - 4 July and the place was packed. The menu stayed basically the same, burgers, ribs, pizza, pasta. Lots of salad choices and some fish dishes. We were sitting at a high table with a good vantage point to see what was coming out of the kitchen - and it all looked great! Our pasta dishes were well prepared and the meat very flavorful. We skipped dessert cause we went to try out a new ice cream shop in Lee - the family run shop just opened. Lots of ice cream choices as well as soft serve that was quite good! Also discovered the Becket General Store reopened after being shuddered for about 7 years - right in Becket center. Looks great - we have to go back and check it out. Has a full package store - great looking counter and full delly - they'll also be doing pizza for take out - a welcome addition to our town. In these difficult financial times it was great to discover these additions to good inexpensive food in the Berks!
