El Coqui Review # 2

Hey Y'all!

We went to El Coqui last night. YUM.

Mostly things were hits, the misses weren't necessarily misses, just not as delicious as the other ordered items.

Plantain chips w/ guac -- Delicious, freshly fried plaintains. I think they should slice them at an angle so they are longer, but that is just personal. Guac was great, mined with big chunks of mild green onions and garlic. MMMmmmmm!

Pollo del Horno -- Chicken was incredible. Moist, tender, fall apart. Deep flavor with peppers and onions. Great. Served will yellow rice (capers and olives) (vs. white) and black beans (vs. red), and fried plantains (vs. sweet). I like all these choices. It insures a different dining experience everytime. (If you desire!)

Tostones -- Smashed plantains, fried with garlic spread. Garlic seemed to have turned...really spicy in a not good way. But still delicious.

Odd things: Ran out of all beers but 2 and no hot sauce on the table.

I met with the owner, she was great. All the recipes are her Mom's, who passed last year. Mom was the inspiration for this woman's dream. If this place is waiting for the right restaurant for the space, they've found it.

Santa Rosa is a better town for having this place...always the sign of a great place.

Bueno suerte to El Coqui!
