Frieday: fried chicken at Fuel (Vancouver)
Remember that hot spell we had near the end of May? Well, ck1234 and I thought it would be a mighty good time to check out the Fried Chicken Friday lunches (and the air conditioning!) at Fuel.
For $19.50, you get a pint of brew and a plate of fried chicken. This chicken is very tender. It is very tasty. It is hot and crunchy. In short, this is some damn fine fried chicken.
The sides are just as good. There was a jalapeno biscuit that other biscuits should aspire to emulate. Light, fluffy, crunchy with a nice bite from the peppers. Oh yeah. And the slaw was excellent also, with some nifty purple bits in there whose name escapes me. And a little bowl of gravy, which ck polished off and I actually ate some of (not a gravy fan).
I'm also not a big beer drinker but I decided to try the darker (red?) R&B they had on tap and it was very good. Of course now I can't remember the name (drat getting so behind on my posts!) to order it again but maybe kyle can help out?
I'll post a few pix here and perhaps ck will chime in with her thoughts and the beer she had. If y'all get a chance, do get yourself some of this before it's gone at the end of the summer...

I am trying to remember that coleslaw ingredient...it is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't get it. You even asked the waiter about it... This sort of info pops randomly into my head, so I'll post back if it comes! The beer: R&B’s Bohemian Lager or Red Devil Pale Ale (I didn't actually remember this...I cheated & found it). Chicken was great. Gravy I loved. Biscuit was perfect, especially dipped in the gravy. Coleslaw didn't wow me though veggies rarely do... It was a good lunch and I'm glad I finally got a chance to try it out. Thank you grayelf!
