Drunken Watermelon.. Tips?

I'd like to start a Drunken Watermelon today for a 4th of July party I'm going to tomorrow evening. I've heard of people buying watermelons, removing a plug and adding some type of liquor and then letting it sit in the fridge overnight. From my internet searches it seems that most people have used vodka, however, I would like to use tequila so that it imparts more flavor into the actual melon. I was thinking of slicing it after it's sat overnight, squeezing fresh lime juice over it, and coating the rind in margarita salt.

Has anyone done this before with any type of alcohol? I'm especially curious if anyone has done it with Tequila and what their results were!

    re: the last one, i'm not a Sandra Lee fan, but she uses tequila...

      If I remember this correctly, you remove a circular plug of rind from one end, ram a dowel into the meat and then add the booze (I remember vodka or rum). Replace the plug and store with plug upright until eatin' time.
