Oh what a lovely dinner! (Philly)
Last night we had the pleasure of dinner at Le Bec Fin - and pleasure it was!
All four of us ordered from the (summer?) prix-fixe menu of $35 for three courses. There are four appetizers to choose from and three mains. Dessert is from the cart.
Two people had the wonderful mushroom soup; the other two had the terrine of the day, which was lamb. All excellent.
For our main course, three of us had the salmon poached in olive oil. Fabulous! We never tasted better salmon. Our friend who had the 8 oz. rib steak ( I may be wrong about the cut) was equally delighted.
Dessert was marvelous. Although we were entitled to one dessert, we were offered more from the cart - the guys added some strawberries to their pastry.
Drinks, wine and coffee make the bill considerably higher, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. And the place is beautiful, comfortable, and quiet. It was busy; every seat was filled.
This dinner was very special. I don't know if the prix-fixe offer will continue through the fall, but it is a great way to celebrate.
