I am going up to Chicago and am looking to buy and bring back some natural casing dogs, instead of paying $66 for 40 of them and having them mailed south. Can you buy these in a grocery store or are they only available wholesale? Can't find any other options online.

The Vienna Beef Factory Store, where you can even buy 6-1, 5-1, or 4-1 natural casing hot dogs in addition to the normal 8-1s. And natural casing polish sausages, etc, etc. Shouldn't have any trouble getting what you need, and I suspect they'll be happy to package them up nicely for you.

At the factory store you can also get Italian beef kits and all the Vienna condiments. Its also a great place for a cheap tasty lunch. Oddly, the hot dogs they serve for lunch are skinless only.

Jewel and Dominick's (grocery stores) both sell them.
