Indian Grocery stores near Weston?

I just moved to the Weston area, and would be most appreciative of recs for Indian groceries. I am looking for markets that sell fresh vegetables, spices, and prepared food. Thank you in advance!

    1. Not in Weston but i go to Janata Bazaar at 10261 Sample Rd in Coral Springs (Phone number - 954-227-2822). Head north on the Sawgrass to the Sample exit and then go east. Its a few miles down on the north (your left). About a 30 minute drive.

Very few fresh vegetables but clean and average sized with many spices and prepared foods. I was there today and picked up Ashoka Ready to eat prepackaged foods, Papada and some assorted sauces. It works well for a caucasian like myself who likes to try to cook indian in the house. Good luck.

i appreciate your response! in the same vein, any suggestions for good Indian restaurants? I prefer Gujarati or South Indian food rather than Punjabi.

Most of the places I go to our a bit of hike for you as I live quite a bit north of you in Parkland. I also get the sense that SE Florida does not have the quality of Indian food that one may get in some other places such as New York or Toronto which have larger Indian Populations. There are a few posts on these places but my take on the restaurant situation is this:

Punjab on Federal Highway in Boca is too oily for my tastes.

Taj on Hillsborough, east of Federal, in Deerfield Beach is one of my favorites. Its address is 201 SE 15th Terrace, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. Its in the Cove shopping plaza. As I have stated in prior posts, their butter chicken is to die for. This is one of my “goto” restaurants for Indian.

Madras Café at 1434 S. Powerline Road Pompano Beach FL has as good a reputation as any place. I went there once for lunch which was very generic buffet food. It was certainly good enough to warrant going back and trying it out for a formal dinner.

Khana Kh'zana at 10345 W. Sample Road, Coral Springs, FL 33065 – Skip unless you want home cooking. I wasn’t impressed.

A couple of the closer ones to you:

India Garden on Atlantic Blvd in Coral Springs is very good. Compared to most Indian places, it has two things going for it. The first is a full liquor bar which makes for a more enjoyable evening IMO. The second is HUGE portions, or at least mine our as I know the owner’s wife. The Naan is really fresh with huge baskets! This is my other “goto” restaurant for Indian food.

Woodlands, at 4816 N University Dr.Lauderhill, FL – 33351, is a small chain. They are vegetarian. They get very good reviews but I have never been there. It is certainly on my short list of restaurants I must try in the near future.

Royal India at 3801 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale 954-964-0071. Extremely up and down reviews. I heard it was great years ago but never made it there. More recently reviews have been poor so not interested in the drive down there for potentially mediocre food.

BTW, based on a post from 2007, another grocer closer to you is ABC International Indo Pak Grocers (10079 Sunset Strip, Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33322; (954) 746 7740) but I have never been there nor do I know if it still open.

Thanks so much for the suggestions--I will definitelyh check them out. I was craving South Indian food so I tried Udipi--it was ok. Service was unbelievably bad and the buffet was ok--unfortunately not too many South Indian dishes. I'll def try Woodlands.

Here is the BEST Indian/Asian grocery store:

                  Little India Asian Grocery Store
                  2800 N Federal Highway, Unit #5
                  Boca Raton, FL 33431

                  • Little Asia Market in Pembroke Pines/Hollywood is where I used to go when I was in South Florida.

Closer to Weston, there is Asiana in Pembroke Pines as well. They are not too big, but very friendly owners. Again, Asiana was open when I lived there, probably want to do a google search to see if they are still open.

                      1. Best customer service and prices
