Best bar food at a KC Hawkeye bar

  • 9

Where in KC is the best place to enjoy top notch bar food, and maybe catch an Iowa Hawkeye football game? And I'm not just talkin about burgers and wings, I want Big Screen TV's, smoked meats, good beer, pro Hawkeye crowd, top notch pizza. Gotta be a great food and football haven in your great city that fits the bill.

  1. Bob, I'm looking for this exact thing myself. Recent Des Moines transplant, ready for the football season already.

Was it you that posted for the info earlier? Not being a food related post, it was deleted. I reposted it as a more food related post to try and get you the info, although I'm in KC enough it would certainly come in handy for me as well.
      Go Hawks!

    2. Just found this online: http://www.kciowaclub.com/. Looks like they gather at "The Other Place" in Overland Park for many things, so I'm assuming they do so for the games as well.

My sister and her husband live in KC (and my sister is a die-hard Hawk fan) and they often head to the "OP" (the Other Place) for good bar food and lots of black and gold. They particularly like the taco pizza ...

We're gonna fight, fight, fight for Iowa ....

Is the OP a chain? DId they have a place in Cedar Falls?

According to their website they have a few locations, one of them being in Cedar Falls, among others in Iowa.

Yes, I believe it is a small chain, based in Iowa. There's one in Olathe as well.

Both locations have a lot of big screen TVs. The food is good but not great. Pizza is edible but far from great. Natchos, wings, burgers, etc make up the rest of the menu.

I've always had good, friendly service at both locations. Wearing Jayhawk Crimson and Blue, of course.

I've only watched KU games at the Other Place in Olathe, but can recomend their lunch specials. My favorite is the hand breaded country fried tenderloin with gravy, real mashed potatoes and corn for $7.25.

Sounds like a good deal. Is it a pork tenderloin?
