I got a great idea on this board earlier this week to make caprese on a stick (flag toothpick in this case). So I was going to do that. Now it ends up that my menu has more of a Mexican or TexMex flavor to it (guacamole and chips, black bean salad with roasted corn and cilantro, watermelon and feta salad also with cilantro). I have all these flag toothpicks I was hoping to use. Any thoughts on something fun I could put on them that goes with my menu better than the caprese would? Thanks!

You could stick them in some fried or roast jalapeno poppers.

Or snake bites, which are butterflied shrimp stuffed w/jack & jalapenos. Or cornbread bites. Mini sloppy joe sliders?

Or serve a cheese and fruit platter and put the toothpicks in a shot glass there for people to use them on the platter.

Or olives stuffed w/ jalapenos plus a cube of cheese - jack or Oaxaca. A piece of chorizo and jack or cheddar cube. Deconstructed mango salsa (mango, onion, chili, cilantro?) Jicama dipped in chili powder and sugar. A tex-mex marinated shrimp, grilled, plus a cherry tomato?

Don't "snicker", but....

I have a friend that always makes "Snickers on a Stick" as her party dish to pass - she gets a bottle of maraschino cherries and a bag of fun size Snickers and impales a cherry and an unwrapped Snickers on toothpicks. I know it sounds silly but people love these things. The red cherry would look great with your flag toothpicks. She usually gets the plastic swords.

Trust me, your guests will love this!

I love peppers and olives soaked in tequilla with a cube of pepperjack

I love the cornbread bites with a small slice of onion and grilled chorizzo

stuffed jalapenos with a jalapenos, chive and bacon mix is a great simple dip. Served room temp.

I also like the matball idea, easy and good for a toothpick.

Grilled tequilla chicken with a spicy lime and sour cream dip is easy, room temp or chilled.

How about a quesedilla roll? Put grated chees and whatever filling you like, vegetables, guac, meat or beans on a tortilla roll up and slice. Warm them up and serve on a toothpick.
