WIthout knowing what areas are convenient to you, I'd recommend grabbing some tamales to go from the tamale vendor on East 116th Street &amp; Third Avenue. (streetfoodenthusiast wrote about her here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/514388)

Or head to Absolute Bagels on 107th and B'way for some of the better bagels in NYC. 

Neither should be too much of a detour if you're taking I-95.
