Tasting Menu - One Night Only

I'll be in New York City for one night several weeks from now and want a very special meal. Per Se, of course, is booked. Where should I go for a memorable tasting menu?

I would suggest wd~50 for a very reasonable $140. You won't find that type of food anywhere else, the staff is super attentive and friendly. They also have some pretty great cocktails if you like that as well.

Thanks, everyone. I've already done WD-50 (I agree it was excellent), and 11 Madison looks good. Any other suggestions?

Agree on 11 Madison- my favorite tasting menu other than Per Se. Also Jean Georges is another terrific option and there are actually two tasting menus, a classic menu that does not change and a seasonal menu. If you like wine, Veritas also does a fantastic tasting menu and has one of the best wine lists in the city.

The 11-course tasting at 11 Madison is the best tasting I've ever had (I've not been to Per Se). If you go, be sure to have it with wine pairings.

Daniel, for French, or Le Bernardin, for seafood, are good choices. If you really feel like going all out, head to Time Warner Center and try the other three Michelin Starred restaurant in the building, Masa.

skip masa. very overpriced for what they serve you. food's good but not twice the price of per se. it's not even good as per se. and the atmosphere's too cold. and you'll be in and out in less than 2 hours...

I haven't really tried many tasting menus, but I would suggest that you keep trying Per Se on Open Table - I was v. surprised to see an opening for the next evening at 8 a couple of days ago.
