All Day Dim Sum?
I don't know why, but it just occurred to me, are there any restaurants that offer all day dim sum or something comparable - like a dim sum menu? You know, sometimes you wake up late on the weekend and you feel like some 'sum and you realize by the time you roll out of bed, throw on some clothes and hurry out you'd have missed the last cart. Is this just a pipe dream? I wonder...any input is appreciated!

Traditionally, Dim Sum (in Montreal) was only served on Sundays until 2:00. The fact that we now have it 7 days a week is a blessing. Finding it later than 3:00 these days would constitute a miracle.
BTW, I am not sure whether there are others who believe this but.... If you have been eating DS in MTL for the past couple (few) decades, you will notice a trend where it would seem that there is a traveling band of DS chefs who will from time to time get raided by a competitor, and next thing you know Kam Fungs DS has dropped in Quality, and Tong Por's has improved. Then a while later Tong Por would instantly drop in quality, and Lotte would improve... Am I imagining things?
I do know that it is not unusual for an entire staff (front and back) to be raided in one fell swoop in China Town.

Both Kam Fung and Ruby Rouge in Chinatown have an a la carte dim sum menu, however, it's minimal and not as extensive as what you would find on the actual carts in their peak dim sum hours. Also, a little insider info, the dishes on the a la carte menu are $2 only in the afternoon AFTER 2:30pm... but you didn't hear that from me.

re: devilishlyj
Later than 3 pm - hmm. You know, the Kam Fung site doesn't actually specify the dim sum hours, so it could be worth a call.
I've never been to Ruby Rouge (and only visited Kam Fung for the first time last weekend - Lotte Furama was my mainstay til it closed!) but that does sound very unpleasant.
Good luck, let us know what you find out!
p.s. Asean Garden in NDG has a couple of dim sum items on their menu at all times, but I've never tried them so can't vouch for 'em.

Ruby Rouge has a small a-la-carte dim sum menu until whenever they close. Evening dim sum quality was not great last time I had it, but I think it's safe to say your shrimp shell incident was bad luck, not par for the course.
Kam Fung might also have some a-la-carte options until closing; not sure.
