I've only ever had the cod, and, in my experience, the large hasn't been any larger than the small. So save your $3 and get a deep-fried Mars bar!

I'm not exactly sure about all the sauces, but I know that the Chesapeake is mayo and old bay, the Hot Chili is mayo with hot chilis, the Marie Rose sauce is mayo and ketchup, and I think the Kitty O'shea is similar to a tarter sauce - maybe mayo with capers and olives?? Be sure to ask the guy behind the counter for more specific details.

My favorite has always been the curry sauce, which isn't mayo based and seems to work a little better to take the edge off all the fried food, and for the love of all things sacred, don't forget the Guinness!

Get a deep fried candy bar if you haven't had one before. I really liked the snickers myself. Worth every million calories that it probably was because of the goey and crunchy and warm texture.

Being from MD I really like the chesapeake (old bay is good on everything really) and the curry.

They don't seem like the kind of people that would have a tude about that kind of thing, they take their fish and chips seriously... I think they would want to make you happy. BUT IMO they cook their fries so they really aren't soggy and very crisp when I have went, not over crisp, but def a good crunch, so don't ask for too well done unless you want something really crispy.

Stick with the cod.
The fries are thick-golden brown on the outside and creamy on the inside-let them stick to what they do best.
Ask for another sauce- if you don't like the one you order, or even if you just want to try an additional flavor-they are very accomodating and I'd be willing to betcha' that they won't even charge you for it.
Let them pull a Guiness for you and relax-it's fish....and chips!
Enjoy!
eta-I had the shrimp...once. See my initial recommendation.

I like the cod but there's no reason why you two couldn't order both. I also like their tartar sauce more than anything else.

Mmmm. That curry sauce is great. We had the cod and I only put vinegar on it and it was great. But we bought a couple curry sauces to go to use around the house.

Enjoy!
