Japanese Curry Twin Cities

Does anyone know where to find good Japanese-style curry in the Twin Cities? I've had lots of curry in town, but am looking specifically for Japanese curry.

Thanks!

  1. Mmmmmm - I love Japanese curry, too! Midori's Floating World Cafe has Japanese-style Curry as a dinner special on Wednesdays. Alas, I've never managed to get there on a Wednesday, so I've never tried it.

If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think of their version.

    1. Obento-ya also has Japanese-style Curry as a special sometimes. Fairly often I think.

What a coincidence! I went to Obento-Ya last night (because it was such a glorious evening and we wanted to dine on their lovely non-smoking patio).

I was very pleased to see the curry special. It was available in two forms: chicken curry over white rice, or chicken curry mixed with udon noodles in broth. It was hard not to order any of their wonderful grilled skewers (robata), but this thread had made me crave Japanese curry, so of course I ordered it. I had the udon - it was very soupy and noodley and comforting. Delicious! I highly recommend it.

Oo... Curry Udon.... Did not know they had that! Are the udon noodles thick or thin? (Please say thick :))

Yes, the udon noodles were thick and beautifully uneven. I think they were hand-made/hand-cut. They were delicious!
