Schwarzbrot. Authentic German black bread. The real deal.

Anyone know where I can get this in the 5 boroughs? Cheers!

  1. I saw Schwartzbrot at Kogelin Hams in the Grand Central Market this past Sunday.

    1. The packaged stuff in the cellophane wrapper? Langenscheidt or something brand? The Key Foods in my neighborhood (Prospect Heights, Bklyn, on Flatbush) has it in their cheese/deli dept. If they have it, most decent-sized markets must... as well as the usual suspects Fairway etc.

I'm looking for a freshly baked loaf. Yup, it's a long shot. :)

Maybe Schaller & Weber on the UES? DE food central for NYC.

      2. While there may be more traffic on the Manhattan board, this post belongs on What's My Craving. You might get a suggestion in nearby NJ as well.

        1. You might try Orwasher's Bakery on 78th and 2nd Ave.
