Bread Stone on Element

Hello All-

I've read accounts of people placing their bread/pizza stone directly on the heating element in their electric stoves. Is this recommended? It would be nice to have another available rack in my oven but i also don't want to destroy the stone. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

  1. I would be worried that temperature differential might crack it. Additionally the element gets a lot hotter than the oven.

    I wouldn't do it - but that's just an opinion.
