Canada Day- Afghanistan
Some friends and I (all of us in the restaurant business) got together here in Montreal andf put together a few cases of local delicacies (smoked meat, bagels, maple syrup and much more) and arranged with the Canadian Forces to have the stuff shipped to friends serving in Afghanistan for their Canada lunch.
Please think of all the troops serving overseas and contact your local military to arrange to send over some treats for the people serving us. For Canadian Troops, Tim Horton's coffee ( I know, I know), moist towelettes and local treats are very much appreciated, along with powdered gatoraid.
My two cents...Happy Canada Day!

The only thing that could have been close to perishable was the cryovac packs of Schwartz's smoked meat in briskets. They rush stuff like this over for any major holiday. Otherwise shipping can take 2 or 3 weeks.
Since they are putting their lives on line, I think that it is the least we can do!
