Hello!

We have family coming in from Detroit this week. They are a couple close to 40 and their 2 kids - 8 and 4. We also have a 2 year old.

Where are great places for us to eat that are reasonable and kid friendly?

She is a foodie so we are looking for good food and a great Minnesota experience.

Thanks!

Is there a preference to Mpls or St Paul? Recommendations for breakfast/brunch with kids would be any of the Grills (Highland, Longfellow, Edina)...it's not fancy but it's good food fare and kid-friendly. I also recommend breakfast/brunch at The Grand Cafe in Mpls. I've seen children there often and the food (any of it) is recommended. I can honestly say that I would recommend this for dinner too (and when I've been there-there's been a wide mix of people). www.grandcafempls.com

Unfortunately, some of the "fun" and Mn places (like Red Stag, Strip Club, Nook for jucy-lucy) etc) are not really places that I would take kids (but I only have niece and nephews) so other posters might disagree. I was just thinking space-wise, noise level, etc.

This is st paul based and probably includes more info than you need.

Lots of options in both cities that are kid friendly. A little more info would probably help with the responses. Additionally, many Twin Cities dining spots work well for kid friendly when you show up prior to the dinner rush.

Hell's kitchen in Mpls is a solid option.

Fusilli - Not sure if the children are foodies either, but I'd recommend India House on Grand Avenue. Its really delicious, it's large and spacious, it's reasonably priced and afterwards, walk down to Grand Ol' Creamery. Again, then, right down Marshall, the Longfellow Grill on the patio or even Highland Grill. Another rec would Bon Vie. I love the bistro feel and they excellent eggs benedict, giant caramel rolls and great quiches.

The other no frills joint if you're in the mood for lunch is Maverick's in Roseville at Larpenteur/Lexington. They have all kinds of brisket, etc. with pretty darn good fries, (I actually get the hot ham and cheese) and they have malts/shakes too.

I too live in St Paul and those are places we enjoy going. Unfortunately, for dinner spots, we usually travel OUTSIDE St Paul! :)
