The lox was good at Barney Greengrass but the whole experience was lacking. Read my review: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/559424
Brents Deli in Westlake Village gets my vote!

re: Baron
Unfortunately Phil's is gone for good and Costco is waaaay too salty for my taste. I think that Porta Via in Beverly Hills serves very good lox on their breakfast or brunch menu's. If I'm buying for home, I splurge and get some Nova from S.M Seafood. it's really good. Next up I want to try Barney Greengrass, I've read positive responses here.
But the finest I've had is in La Jolla at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in their A.R. Valentien restaurant. Breakfasts there are a real treat!

Why don't you get it from Brents?? I think it might be 24.99$ but, well worth it as well as their other smoked fishes. Their bagels come from Western Bagels. The lox spread is pretty darn good too if you get half/half you'll never miss the whole thing. (whatever the amount is you choose) www.brentsdeli.com

Barney Greengrass in Beverly Hills, but Gottenyu, are you ever going to pay for it.
Once a year as a treat I have bagels shipped in from Ess-A-Bagel and lox and novy (they are not the same thing) shipped in from Russ and Daughters, because I haven't found anyplace out here that's as good.
