Village of Cross Keys Farmer's Market
There is also a small farmer's market on Tuesday from 11 to 2 at the Village of Cross Keys. It's located off of Fall's Road in between Northern Parkway and Cold Spring Valley. They have some stands set up in the parking lot close to the shops at the Village of Cross Keys.
The market didn't have too many stands but it was still pretty quaint. There was a vegetable/fruit/herb stand. It was pretty decent. I bought some tomatoes (2.50 a pound), candy onions (which were super fresh, 75 cents each), green bell pepper (60 cents each), and a peach. They also had a variety of other stuff: squash, potatoes, cucumbers, pickled cucumbers, dill, blueberries, flowers, beets, to name a few.
There was also another guy, I think he was making soup. I actually didn't walk to close to his stand so not sure exactly what he was selling.
Then there was another lady, her place was called "Quite a Stir". She had pound cakes, chocolate cookie bars, some "southern" desserts as well. She was pretty adamant about it being southern desserts. She had a picture of a cupcake that attracted me to her, but alas no cupcakes. She said you can make them to order but the reason why she didn't have them was b/c the icing would melt. I ended up buying the sour cream pound cake for 2.50. Let you know how it is once I eat it.
Then there was a lady selling purses. Another lady selling jams. Another guy selling spices (he also goes to a few other farmer's markets like the JFX one and is located next to the fish guys). I am not sure if he's going to come back next time from what he was telling me though.
Then there was another bakery place called "puff and pastry". The girl had some HUGE chocolate chip cookies!!!! It's 7 inches in diameter!!! The cookies are $2. She had some samples of the cookies and they were yummy!!! I did end up buying one! I am excited to eat it. She also had 2 types of brownies, some stuff with feta cheese, some phillo dough things, and a bunch of other stuff. Oh yes and the chocolate chip cookies are soft and chewy! There original shop is in hampden.
Also there was a lady selling cards which looked cool. I think I got all the things down from the farmers market. There weren't too many people there, so if anyone is around the area they should check it out. But I wouldn't go out of my way for it unless you wanted some fresh farm vegtables/fruits on a tuesday.
Enjoy!
