Afternoon tea (Vancouver)

  • 6

Hello all,
Looking for a nice place to hold a girls afternoon tea. Any suggestions?

No Tea House or Fish House please, it's too hard to access to espcially on days when the road into Stanley Park is congested. Yes I know there side roads to these two locations but not everyone does.

Thanks!

  1. The Wedgewood Hotel has a very nice afternoon tea on the weekends. It's expensive but worth it IMHO.

How about Adonia or Secret Garden in Kerrisdale?

      Adonia Kerrisdale Teahouse

      Secret Garden Tea Co

    2. I'd stick to either the Wedgewood or The Secret Garden, but I've often been left feeling a little underwhelmed by the sandwiches at The Secret Garden. I actually emailed the Four Seasons a couple of weeks ago asking whether Yew would ever introduce afternoon tea. It was explained that given their conceptual design and the atmosphere they've worked to create, afternoon tea didn't really fit with the model. Makes sense. They did however, graciously offer the option of my ordering a selection of sandwiches and pastries next time I visited.

As an aside, I've always been curious about that place on Main... I think it's called Shakti? Has anyone tried it?

i believe its more a chai kind of place

      2. On my last Vancouver visit in April I had afternoon tea at Adonia, Secret Garden and at the Lobby Lounge at the Shangri-La Hotel...Adonia had the best food, a perfect combination of savory and sweet and delicious scones, Secret Garden the best tea and lovely sweets, I agree with SF toronto's comment about the sandwiches tho....both of these places have a sweet, cozy, casual tea shop feel to them.... as you can imagine the Shangri-la atmosphere is totally different ....It was was spacious and luxurious feeling and the chairs were really comfortable! the service was perfect and everything was delicious...it was more expensive than Adonia tho and didn't include as much of a selection. I can recommend all three...but the one I will go back to next is Adonia it's small though so I would make a reservation.

Thanks everyone! I'll check these places out. Didn't know the Shangri La offered afternoon so I'm excited to check it out.

Not too keen on the Secret Garden. I do like their sweets but as you mentioned, the sandwiches are kind meh.
