Had a really cool experience at Death & Co.
We were in town a few days ago for our monthly food binge, and we swung by Death & Co. for a cocktail. Had always heard great things about the place, and it lived up to the hype. Really cool space, great bartenders, and great cocktails.
Well, when it was time to pay I handed the barkeep my Univ. of Miami Visa card with Sebastian the Ibis on it. The guy's face lit up like a kid on Christmas. Said in all his time working there he'd never seen a UM credit card. Like me, he is a huge Univ. of Miami sports fan. He proceeded to buy me and my girl a shot and had one himself. We took a shot together to good old UM. Felt really great to have that happen.

My girl and I went here for drinks a few weeks ago. The issue I have is, if you are not at the bar you lose out on a huge part of the experience which is watching them make the drinks.
Also, I realize the ingredients are "exclusive" but rounds of drinks for the 2 of us were $35. The tab adds up quickly. Also, we could not have friends meet us because of the whole seating policy.
It was fun for that one time but doubtful I would return. -

re: filmbomb
Small world! East Village is our favorite neighborhood for food and drink. You're living in the right spot!
I don't remember the bartender's name, but he was the shorter of the 2. One guy was rather tall with a longish goatee, and he appeared to be the guy who invented quite a few of the drinks on the menu. Our guy was the other dude. Very tightly cropped hair and tightly cropped shadowy beard. Really good dude.
