Escoveitch Fish Flames

Very rarely do I taste a Jamaican dish that takes me back to my childhood eating in my mothers kitchen, but when I do I think I need to share.

The Escoveitch King Fish at Flames is incredible, perfect balance and spicy and sour over a perfectly fried King Fish. In addition Flames also makes probably my favorite Brown Stew Chicken outside of Jamaica. I agree that Flames does fall short when it comes to certain dishes, but the ones they get right they really do exceptionally and can match up with anywhere I have eaten outside the Island.

Cool. If you find anyone that does a respectable salt fish with ake let me know ;-)

Thanks Matt: I value your recs on jamaican food both on Boston and Toronto boards. I like Flames but have been reluctant to try the fish dishes. I like their curried goat.

Which Flames were you at, the one on Huntington or Mattapan?

Flames II on Huntington, make sure to call ahead because they do not get the King Fish or Snapper in every day.
