Where to eat in Norway and mostly Sweden?

johannabanana Jun 30, 2009 04:30 AM

We're travelling to Norway and Sweden: Alesund in Norway; and Gothenburg, the west coast above Gothenburg, Gotland and Stockholm in Sweden. If anyone has any suggestions for unfussy, delicious (ideally seasonal) places to eat, we'd be extremely grateful! All the recent, similar threads are either not that recent or relevant.

Sorry I didn't see your post last year! We've been to lots of Countryside Hotels in Sweden, some of them with excellent food, as well as Oaxen. Did you experience anything worth reporting?

We were blown away by the restaurant/cafe Rosendals Tradgard in Stockholm and enjoyed (at greater expense) Sjomagasinet in Gothenburg. The meatballs at Pelikan in Stockholm were fun but otherwise a number of restaurants were closed for the summer. Can't say we ate anything crazy good outside the cities except for some delicious, simple food at a smokery on Gotland, almost at Furillen, the smaller island off Gotland.
