The sorbets are delicious! Thanks for the update about the gelato - looking forward to trying it.
Also, Fairway seems to have the best price on the sorbet/gelato.

I just spoke with someone at the company who indicated there were no plans to make any Gelato certified.

i spoke to people who work at the company and that is where I got my news from

Any updates? I noticed the Key Lime Gelato last week and I really want to try it already!

If you can still find it, Ben & Jerry's had a summer special Key Lime flavor:

That looks delicious.. but wayyy more calories than I'd like to consume. I'll look for it anyway in shoprite tonight...

I looked for it last night, and didn't see it. I bought Edy's 'take the cake' flavor instead..

their web site now says
"Ingredient changes will also be highlighted, as Ciao Bella’s gelato and sorbet are now kosher products free of corn syrup, refined sugar, and synthetic hormones. "

got this facebook reply from ciao bella
right now Blood Orange, Banana Mango, Mango, Lemon, Raspberry and Passion Fruit are Kosher certified in pints. In 2010, most of our gelato and sorbet pints will be certified.

i got a further message from ciao bella: "All of our gelato and sorbet pints will be certified under Star-D or Star-K with the exception of Green Tea, Espresso, and Maple Ginger Snap. You should start to see the new packaging on shelves in March!"

Can I write, "told you so"? :-)

in regards to what, I first mentioned this in june

I know, kgm. I knew about this in April and posted about it. You and I were both saying it would happen but others were doubting. How about "we told you so"? :-)

where did you post it in april? I like the "we told you so." Now, I am waiting for koshertoday to call it an exclusive.

saw the kosher gelatos at shop rite west orange. bought vanilla and key lime graham. key lime graham was fantastic! check the new packaging for star-d hasgacha on gelatos-the package has a photo of a scoop of the flavor inside. the old ones do not.

Very exciting! I've been intermittently checking them for a hechsher since you posted about this last year, and have been craving key lime pie gelato all day since reading this.

do you know if all shoprite stores will carry the kosher gelatos? I really want the key lime flavor!!
if they carry the ciao bella line then they will get the new packaging ones soon! the key lime is really really great and they soon will have ice cream sandwiches with graham crackers on the outside and the gelato on the inside-do not know if those will be certified

The KLP is amazing. I had it before the hecscher (a year ago). The post has since been deleted. LOL

found the kosher key lime one at fairway in paramus as well as kosher flavors like prickly pear and wild blueberry

I saw the kosher gelatos at Fairway in Brooklyn. They had the key lime flavor.
They were offering tastes of another brand of ice cream- SoCo- very interesting flavors. I bought that instead in mission flig, hazelnut, and marzipan.

I haven't been able to find heckshered ones in DC :(.

Try the Shoppers in Fairfax, VA. Thanks to a few "loud mouths" at Chabad and OT they have a HUGE kosher selection of all types of things and are very willing to bring in new products,. Not quite Baltimore, but it saved me so many trips to Baltimore when we lived in NoVA.

I just bought the banana mango sorbet- it is delicious~!

I had the ginger peach and it was incredible!

The Key Lime Graham gelato is as excellent as I thought it'd be. The Chocolate-Hazelnut was merely good, without being more exciting than usual chocolate ice cream.

I bought the blood orange sorbet at Whole Foods in St. Louis yesterday. it was good, but not great. My husband thought it tasted like the orange part of a dreamsicle. None of the gelatos with imaginative flavors were available.
At $4.99 a pint, I probably won't buy it again. We get Sharon's fruit sorbets which are delicious and a couple of dollars less a pint.

i like ciao bella better than other sorbet companies b/c of the ingredients. looking at raspberry-cb's ingredients are: Raspberries, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Water, Pectin, Natural Flavor.
while Sharon's is raspberry puree, water, sugar, lemon juice, pectin and guar. CB has Vitamin C dv 50% while Sharon's is 2%.
I tried the CB strawberry sorbet (and gelato) and there were actual strawberries in there.

I recently tried the Prickly Pear and the Peach Ginger; both were excellent. Peach Ginger has small chunks of ginger in it.
