Pusadee's Garden - Pgh

I dined at Pusadee's Garden (formerly Sweet Basil) in Lawrenceville. The interior is really nice, white and brown.

We dined outside on the patio covered by grape vines. Lots of beautiful plants and even a very tame wild rabbit hopping around.

(I never ate at Sweet Basil so this may be the same set-up so bear with me).

We had crab rolls and grilled pork meatballs as an appetizer - very good.

I was trying to find out from the waitress about the "spicy" jungle curry (I can't have extremely spicy stuff). She said she would find out and left for about 10 minutes. At one point, I saw her standing around talking to the other server. This really turned me off. We also asked for Thai iced teas and it seemed like drinks took forever.

Fortunately the other server came over and gave us our food, etc.

The jungle curry was filled with scallops, squid, mussels and shrimp in a red curry (no coconut milk) curry with rice. My friend had the street noodles that included shrimp tempura.

The food was good but the menu is very small and limited. It's a nice spot to have a date. Would I go back? Probably not -- I have had better Thai and service elsewhere.

Oh - I am on the other side of the fence with this place. We have gone twice in two weeks eating a variety of items. Street Noodles #1 with the "fried" chicken was incredibly flavorful. The spicy duck noodles was wonderful and not too spicy. I think we tried all of the appetizers - the crab rolls are great - maybe a little expensive. The tempura vegetables were crispy and delicious. Also - all of the homemade sauces they serve with the appetizers are different and tasty.
We had luck with our server each night we were there. They were very pleasant and spent just the right amount of time taking care of us.
In addition, the outdoor garden is amazing. I love all of the plants and it is just so peaceful.
    I will go back.

Sounds very nice. I think that I'll give this place a try and hope that the service issues are resolved. I think that sometimes the quality of food can be affected by the quality of the service. Just like presentation, if you do not have a good server, it can change your opinion of the food...Even if it's not justified.
