Hi guys, my wife will be running the Edmonton marathon on August 16 and we are going to be coming up there from Calgary. .Her 30th b-day is on the 18th and so I was planning on taking her out for a birthday dinner on the Friday night. I would like to know if there are any restaurant recomendations in Edmonton as it has been awhile since I have been there. Some of our favorite restaurants in Calgary are Muse, Alloy and Brava Bistro, so looking for something along those lines. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

I looked at the sites for your favs and I think my suggestions would be: Hardware Grill, Culina (either Mill Creek or Highlands, both need reservations) or maybe Red Ox Inn. The last is the least like your C'town list as it is more old world, less shiny. But it is lovely and a great place for a special occasion meal. Not sure how any would be pre-race.

I am also a Calgarian and not particularly familiar with the Edmonton restaurant scene, but I can note we had an enjoyable meal at Wildflower Grill recently. Comparable to Muse in terms of type of food and quality (which, I should say, I think is not as good as Alloy but better than Brava). Much better than either of the two meals we've had at Hardware Grill.

Yes, Wildflower is also a good option along with Culina. You may also want to check out the Blue Pear. http://www.thebluepear.com/
