Rita's Ice on Tuckahoe Rd, Yonkers, now open!

Has anyone been to a Rita's? its a chain that serves, Italian Ice, Frozen Custard, Cream Ice, and other frozen goodies according to their website (http://www.ritasice.com)! It's right next to Barney McNabbs.

  1. Miki, it's a chain, and I've been to a bunch in the Philly area. I wouldn't make a special trip, but it would be a good treat if you were nearby!

    1. it's a chain, but far better than you'd expect from one.

years ago, we used to try and hit the rita's on the way back through philly/trenton area. they've now expanded a lot, but it's still pretty good stuff.

have the "gelati", which in this case isn't what you'd expect, but a combination of soft serve vanilla ice cream and italian ice...my preference is cherry in that combination.

      1. I drove past there the other day, and was so excited to seen the words "Frozen Custard" on their sign. There is no other place nearby that serves frozen custard, so chain or not, I'm excited to try it!

        1. I have never been there, but there is a Rita's Ice in Mamaroneck in the Trader Joe's shopping center as well.

          1. I was looking at their website and im intrigued by their italian ice/custard combo treat!

            1. Thanks for letting us know! I didn't know there is Rita's Ice in Westchester County now. I used to get them when I visited friends in NJ. I think there used to be a kiosk at the Palisades Shopping Center a couple of years ago but then it disappeared.. I was so sad..

              1. we've been waiting for this for years and Rita's has finally made it out of Philly/NJ to our neck of the woods and it was well worth the wait. it is fabulous - make sure to have the misti - a layered treat of custard and water ice. yum, yum, extra yum!

                1. We stopped there this afternoon for a little snack on our way home. It was really delicious, and they are super nice. Although they have a bunch of different items, we stuck to the custard but got some containers of Italian ices to take out. The vanilla custard was wonderful and I was happy to see them list the calories. The fact that a small cup was only 160-200 calories made me feel much better about having that as a snack! I also appreciated that they had sugar-free Italian ices and I got some in tangerine for a completely guilt-free snack. I will report back after we try the ices!
