Commander's Lunch or Jazz Brunch

Rethinking Galatoire's on Friday, so...

Would you do Friday lunch or Sunday Jazz Brunch? We land at 10:30 am on Friday, so we wouldn't be able to get to lunch until around noon at the earliest. On Sunday, we have a late flight out and need some things to fill up the day. But is brunch good there? Or is it cheesy? The last brunch I went to in NO was Court of Two Sisters, so I'm a little afraid of crappy brunch food.

I really like Friday lunch, although brunch is pretty good as well. There is absolutely no comparision between Court of Two Sisters Brunch and that of Commanders Palace. It isn't any sort of all you can eat buffet style as I believe that Court of Two Sisters is, but am not certain. The CP website (you can book your reservation directly through them online) offers a sample lunch and brunch menu so that you have an idea of what is being offered. Lunches at CP are more relaxed and leisurely and you will also have time to partake in the 25 cent martinis. The Garden Room is probably the best seat in the house, so I would recommend requesting that when you make your reservation.

I love Sunday Brunch at Commander's. It has become a yearly tradition for me when I visit New Orleans. The Jazz band that plays throughout the restautant is a nice touch. I always go alone and have a good time. I love Commander's soups and gumbos. I would go to brunch if possible.

I agree with you about Sunday Jazz brunch at Commander's palace. I was just there in Jan 09. My wife and I had a wonderful time, great food and great service. Try getting a reservation for the Garden room if you can. Have a bloody mary and enjoy the jazz band. Looking forward to another Sunday Jazz brunch at CP very soon.

I like lunch in the garden room at Commanders. There is nothing cheesy about CP. Alternatively, you could do Fri. lunch at August, Cuvee, or Emeril's (both Cuvee and Emeril's have lunch specials) and Sun. brunch at Commanders.

Brunch at Commander's is wonderful. We go every time we come to NOLA - 3 to 4 times a year. Last trip in May, we missed out on brunch and did go for lunch and it was lovely. We were disappointed the one time we had dinner there however.

I have always thought lunch at Commanders Palace was something special. Especially now with the 25 cent martinis.
