I got an e-mail from my friend Goro early this week. He brought me very good news!! He and his wife Judy will soon be opening their new sushi bar. I am beyond thrilled as Ango Tei was the first place that made me fall in love with sushi over 20 years ago.

I have hundreds of great memories eating great sushi and kappo from Ango and the then very young step-son Goro-San. I was worried that when Ango retired that things would not be the same, but Goro took the torch and shined behind the counter. I was so sad when the family sold a couple of years ago. My wife and I were lucky enough to be there the last night.

The new restaurant will be called Nana San. The address is 3601 Jamboree Rd in Newport Beach. It should be open in about a month.
