Just curious if any chowhounds have any cheap must-eats when in Vegas? :)

Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner recs needed!

Thanks!

  1. I've always enjoyed breakfast at Florida Cafe, a nice oasis on a seedy stretch of N LV Blvd. Cafe con leche and fresh squeezed OJ and croquetas with eggs and a side of papas rellenas. YUM

    1. La Mexicana is one I found out about here on Chowhound last year and have been going back to quite a few times since. It's located at 3675 S Decatur Blvd., between Flamingo and Sahara, about 5 minutes by car off the strip. Here's the link to a thread about La Mexicana posted here about a year ago. My review is about halfway down the page, along with other (better written) reviews.

      1. The off-the-menu steak special at Ellis Island behind Bally's gets my vote. Decent steak, potato, green beans, soup or salad, and a house-made beer for $7. It ain't what you'll get at the fancy steakhouses on the Strip, but c'mon, $7 doesn't even get you the potato at those places! They also have a brewery patio that has BBQ ribs and chicken at equally amazing prices.

        1. It's been a while since I lived in Vegas and was seeking cheap eats. I do remember Food Express being excellent Chinese cuisine at quite reasonable prices. I'd be interested in hearing from some locals about whether this place is still delivering the goods.
