Anyone come across 'Jambon De Bayonne' in Toronto?!

So far, I have read postings about where to find Prosciutto di Palma or Jamon Iberico in Toronto. My question is - ' Has any fellow chowhounder come across a place where they sell Jambon De Bayonne, preferably freshly sliced from a whole leg?!' At least McEwan does not carry it. How about Pusaterri or places inside SLM? Thx!

I was at Salumeria at Yonge and Davis a couple of Saturdays ago and bought some Bresaola - about 200 grams came out to $17 or so. They also just started selling Jamon Iberico but that will likely cost you around $75 for 100 grams.

      Hi Charles,
Good luck in your quest. However, having had Bayonne Ham in Bayonne, I've never bothered searching it out here!
It is sweeter than most hams - and just didn't seem to go well with anything (OK in a baguette with mustard would work). And it's relatively expensive (for what you get).

Yes my friend! Fond memories of eating them in France was the reason for my sudden urge and quest! The new Patisserie Sebastian on Yonge and Lawrence do make a Bayonne ham sandwich. Not sure whether its the real thing though!

I'm 97.3% sure that I've seen it at Scheffler's. Next to the iberico stuff.

Add an extra 2.6%, because I've seen it there as well.

Wow! Are you guys ' Vulcan chowhounders'? Sooo precise with you numbers! I hate to be the one pouring you wine by the glass in restaurants. You must want it exact to the 'nano litres'! Ha!

To bring it up to 99.9%, Charles! I'm actually a non-Vulcan, in that case -- I much prefer when they overpour!

You might want to call La Salumeria or drop by. It is located 2021 Yonge (North of Davisville) - 416-486-8327. Excellent selection of salami and other cured meats, including bresaola and prosciutto di Parma. Staples also abound: olive oils, vinegars and many types of anchovies.

I believe I have seen it at Cumbrae's, sliced in the deli section.

Pretty sure I've seen it at Scheffler's in SLM, albeit not the whole leg.
