Silverton Sourdough Starter - Cheesecloth Sub?

I'm about to make some sourdough starter from Nancy Silverton's recipe. I've done this many times before, but I've always had cheesecloth on hand. Not this time. My organic grapes are getting near the too old to use point and I can't go get some today.

What's wrong with using another cloth, e.g., white (flour sack-type) dish towel? If I don't get any responses in the next 20 minutes, I'm gonna use the dish towel.

Old pair of (clean) pantyhose? Is the chesecloth for covering the starter or containing it?

Don't have any.....THANK GOD! It's for holding the grapes in suspension in the starter.
