Eating in Nahant

I was hoping someone could recommend places to eat in or super close to Nahant. We are looking for a good place (nothing fancy - a relaxed, casual setting is preferred, but not a subshop!) to eat before heading to an evening event in Nahant. Also, if you have breakfast place recommendations, that would be great too. Thanks in advance!

I think you'll be hard pressed to fine something in Nahant. Why not the recently reviewed Blue Ox in Lynn: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/614050. http://www.theblueoxlynn.com/

Hmm. I may have to give the Ox a try, but the prices look a little high for what downtown Lynn can probably support.

Floating Rock in Revere or Mittapheap in Lynn are very good and casual

I'm a big fan of the Antique table on the Lynn Swampscott line, charming little place and the food is excellent.

How about Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott, right on the beach down the road from Nahant.

Their food is just ok but the view is wonderful! I've eaten worse.

Nahant has next to nothing for restaurants. The Tides is ok for a drink and maybe a simple dish, but I'd go someplace in Lynn (Monte's, Hayward's, Porthole, Mildred's, Antique Table, Blue Ox, etc.).

The Porthole! A great atmosphere, on the water, great prices, ample portions.... Don't forget to order the fried pickle appetizer, yum. There is also The Tides which is located in Nahant at the end of the causeway. Fried seafood is average, lots of locals. I prefer the Porthole over the Tides due to the Portholes extensive menu, something for everyone. If you want to spend more money, I would also recommend Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott. Regardless of what has been said on this board about Red Rock, I have always had a great meal and great service. If you want to feel as if you are eating in a nursing home, I recommend The Hawthorne next door to Red Rock. Everyone is over seventy and nothing has changed since the seventies from the menu to the decor.
