Fincastles GSO NC
Has anyone been to Finscastles in Greensboro NC? I have heard some great things about it - but I want some more reviews - what is like inside? how is the food? what's been your experiences?
I have been to Fincastle's a few times, and actually ate there yesterday. Inside it is like a diner with tables, open grill, and counter to eat at, but they have some (what I assume to be) local art on the walls, which gives it a more modern touch. The service has been great every time we have gone except one trip a few months ago near closing time, but was excellent yesterday. They are really busy during lunch. The food is great. The fried pickles with ranch are tasty and something different to eat, and the burgers are some of the best that I have ever had (their sauce is delicious)! Also, the onion rings, which are homemade, are very tasty; a little spicy with thick, juicy onions inside. I definitely recommend that you try it, we always look forward to eating there!
I was in Greensboro a couple of Sundays ago and we were in search of a place to grab lunch. Just about everything was closed, but I searched diligently on CH and came across Fincastle's Diner. Well, let me tell you, that was one perfect diner-style lunch! My daughter LOVED her chocolate shake, the onion rings were just as you described - spicy and delicious, and my husband's End-of-Summer burger (think patty melt w/ pimento cheese and special sauce) was to die for. And my plate of two hot dogs -- one carolina style w/ chili, slaw, mustard & onions, and the other dog w/ pimento cheese, slaw, special sauce and onions - were some of the best dogs I've ever had.
The atmosphere was charming, they serve beer and have cute umbrella tables out front and its nestled in the heart of downtown G-boro. I can't wait to get back to this place soon.
