Best smokehouse in the tristate area.

LaMaree (also known as Portier Fine Foods) makes the best whitefish salad, probably in the country. They also have other great smoked fish. They can even smoke a turkey if you bring it, although they smoke their own meats as well. Their main business is supplying smoked goods and caviar to stores and chefs, but their smokehouse welcomes retail business. It's in Mamaroneck, Westchester NY.

My friend in Texas came for a visit and we served the smoked salmon and whitefish. 2 months later he was still dreaming about it and ordered it online. I dare you to find better. If you do, I want to hear about it.

  1. I do not know LaMaree, but for us in the North, the Mt. Kisco Smokehouse passes taste muster. Don't know if they do meats, but their fish is excellent.

      Fantastic herring in cream sauce as well.

        I even love their smoked tuna salad. They smoke bumble bee and it's yummy. The shriimp are great, too.

              a little too far for jfood on a sunday morning. believe it or not mt kisco has some pretty good ones and with the smoked stuff in the car jfood makes a bee-line back to NC for b'fast. The ones at word of mouth on 123 in vista ain;t bad either.

                Their Norwegian smoked salmon is not hand sliced - they smoke it and sell it in packages and the flavor is great. I get that when I have to buy the salmon too far in advance. I also make a great smoked salmon "tartar" out of it.

      2. We love LaMaree. Picked up 2 sides of salmon for Xmas. Amazing. It had been just smoked that a.m. Mt Kisco smoked it top rate too.
