Where to buy mini buns?!

Does anyone know where I can find miniature hot dog buns in DC or VA? I'm looking to make miniature philly cheesesteaks (teeny, tiny ones - not nearly as big as sliders) as appetizers for a party. I don't want to make the buns myself (no time!) so I'm looking for either a local bakery that makes them or a website I can order from. Help! :)

  1. I've never seen the mini hot dog rolls in the DC area. They are very popular in the Albany/Troy area of NY where they are used for the regional delicacy the mini-chili dog. Maybe one of the large bakeries there (Bella Napoli comes to mind) could ship you some. Otherwise you might be able to talk a local bakery into doing some custom for you. When I needed some poppyseed hot dog rolls for a chicago hot dog tasting at work Goldmans Kosher Bakery in Pikesville was kind enough to make me some.

    1. Or you can just get the mini slider buns now offered in the grocery stores like Safeway. When I can't find those I use the parker rolls from Pepperidge Farm or any other brand for dinner rolls. (Used to live in Boston and make mini lobster rolls for appetizers) To make them look more like a hot dog roll you could just cut off part of the little bun and use the scraps for bread crumbs or croutons.

      1. I have found miniature rolls that resemble hot dog or lobster rolls in the bakery dept. at Giant. I used them to make mini lobster rolls.
