Morimoto-SO WHAT

What an expensive disappointment! Sat at the sushi bar with head chef ROB tonite. Ordered $120 Omakase dinner. Small portions of good but not great fish, one small piece of tuna (it wasn't even toro), a "cheap" bottle of sake, and a $400 meal. Save your meal and go ELSEWHERE. For $400, you can eat Omakase in Sushi Yasuda for two, and have a MUCH MUCH MUCH better meal.....ok not the same scene...but when I''m paying for dinner, give me great food.. Fair at best...Let the eater beware!!

Agreed...the atmosphere was fantastic, the bathroom was to die for (best part of the meal), but the food was only so-so to poor. The appetizers we ordered were good, but the sushi itself (spicy tuna roll) and the sashimi platter were extremely disappointing. I echo small h and LeahBaila about cooked food.

Based on my one meal there, I'd say you would've been better off making a meal of the cooked foods, with a few pieces of sashimi. Not that this does you any good now.

@ UES Mayor: Dismal is an awfully strong word. I've had dismal meals, and Morimoto sure as hell wasn't one of them. (Very) overpriced and a little underwhelming, maybe.

I went there a while back and had a fabulous meal... that said we ordered about $120 pp a la carte, but I didn't even see let alone pay the bill.

And, it was not as good as my meal at Sushi Yasuda, where we sat at the bar and ordered carefully (no toro) but extensively (just about everything else) for $120 for 2.
