I just want to give a shout-out about this place. It is across the street from the bethesda women's market-next to the starbucks. It is very casual but also very good Vietnamese food, imo. I like the spring rolls and grilled chicken (it has a tasty but light "tasting" caramel sauce.) A bonus is they have brown rice, too. The pho and other entrees look good. If anyone goes please report back and let me know how you like it!

I've commented on this place several times. I like their pho a lot and also their rice bowls. Tasty, clean, quick and reasonably priced. Everything fresh and made to order. Best pho option I found in that area.

I second your recommendation. I have dropped in a few times for quick bites. Good food and fast service. I would definitely go back if I am in the area.

Oh yeah, I eat there a lot - it's really close to my office. I usually get the pho because a couple of times I got skewered meat that was kind of overcooked, but it seems like that's not the case for everyone.

I don't know why it took me so long to discover this place considering I live close by, but I finally tried it last night. My husband had the beef pho, and I had the vegetarian vermicelli. I am so happy to have found a Vietnamese place with good vegetarian options in this area. I still don't understand why there is so much mediocre Thai food, and so little Vietnamese.

Thank for the report, chicken kabob and to the other posters for their feedback.. It's hard to find good pho in DC proper at metro-accessible locations, so I'm definitely going to give this place a try.

Gigi- Thanks for responding and bringing this post back to recent circulation. Now I order the vermicelli bowl w/ grilled pork. I must go there once a week because I cannot get enough. Please report back after you go. I hope it meets your expectations! My parents and I got takeout from there a couple of weeks ago and they loved it, too.

You're welcome, chicken_kabob. Actually, abigail99 brought the thread back to life, I believe. I was just happy to hear that there was good pho near metro and not too far from DC. If you go at least once a week, it must be really good! :) I'll be sure to post after I visit.

My boyfriend and I checked out this place before a movie on Friday night. I agree that it is a good place for a quick bite since there is no table service (you order and pay at the counter) and the menu is small and manageable. I ordered the chicken rice noodle bowl. I thought it was pretty tasty, though I did miss the spring rolls one normally expects in an order of this classic Vietnamese dish. My boyfriend's pho was tasty but he found it a bit small - I could tell that it was a MUCH smaller serving than what we had at Pho 14 a few months ago at Columbia Heights.
Overall, I would probably return to this place because it was pretty solid for the price, and I appreciate a non sit-down option in Bethesda.

By the way, I also enjoyed a lovely serving of gelato at Dolcezza and ogled the pastries in the window of Cacao. Has anyone tried Cacao's fancy pastries or macarons? If I didn't have gelato on the brain, I would have tried something there. It looked very tempting.

They do sell side orders of spring rolls, and I think that the 'vegetarian' noodle bowl has them; but normally at Vietnamese places I order this dish with both grilled meat and spring rolls served on top.

No, they have a sitting area. You walk in, order and pay at the counter, and then they bring it to the table area when the food's ready. You serve yourself silverware and clear your own table afterward. It's a very casual spot.
