Cupcake delivery in Birmingham, AL?

Hey fellow 'hounds--I could really use your help. I have a friend who is going to be in the Birmingham area over her birthday in a couple of weeks. We have a longstanding tradition of birthday cupcakes, and since I won't be able to fete her in person, I'd really like to see if I could get some delivered to her at her hotel. Do any of you know of any bakeries (i) in the Homewood area (I think that's where her hotel is), (ii) that deliver (iii) really delicious cupcakes (she likes 'em sweet and buttery)? I'd really appreciate any thoughts you may have...

  1. I have no idea about whether they deliver, but you have two good choices in Homewood: Savage's Bakery and Pastry Arts. Savage's is an old-school bakery that has been around for 70 years, whereas Pastry Arts is fairly new and more upscale. If she is staying at the new Aloft Hotel, both places are right around the corner.

    Websites are:

    Savages: http://www.birminghammenus.com/savages/

    Pastry Arts: http://www.pastryartcakes.com/

    I hope that helps.

That is extremely helpful, thank you. I'll give them both a call.

Where is she staying in Homewood? As far as I know nobody delivers in Birmingham, but Pastry Arts has really yummy mini cupcakes called BabyBites. I'm sure they would let you pay for them over the phone and if she was close she could stop buy and pick them up. They are worth the effort IMO. Edgars has never gotten one order I've placed with them right, so I would skip them. There is a place called Pastry Angels in Crestline {Mt. Brook} that has good cupcakes, but I think their storefront might still be closed for remodeling. Savage's is ok, not great. They have vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles. Most kid type cupcakes.
