<content>We are spending the weekend at the Hyatt at Downtown Crossing and I'm in search of good eats in the area, with teens in mind.

-take out Chinese
-recs for North End
-Newbury Street
-Fanuiel Hall
-some sort of lobster, reasonably priced

Not chains or tourist traps. I'm all over Silvertone, looking for stuff like that

Thank you!</content>

<content>Try Marliave, the next street over from Silvertone. Good burgers, GREAT fries, and house made pastrami, as well as fancier dishes.</content>

<content>Go to one of the Shabu places right down the street from your hotel - better than "take-out Chinese" - of course, a wealth of dining-in places in Chinatown. Hit the bakeries too.
Winsor, Hei La Moon or China Pearl for dim sum is a must given your location.
Barking Crab for lobster, outdoor dining on the water
Skip chow in Faneuil Hall generally, but I guess the kids might like it.

<content>there is a hard rock down there -- kids might like that.

anybody been to kingston station or good life lately?

you could try the liberty hotel -- built out of the old charles st. jail. really cool re-use of the space, and scampo is great with a very nice secluded patio. try the lobster pizza. chef-owner lydia shire has made it a local classic.

the food on newbury st. is basically awful. mostly local chains, overpriced and all about turn-over. the far end has an emack &amp; bolio's for ice cream and trident bookstore cafe. across mass ave is the other side cafe, which is funky with some really good sandwiches.

north end try the original regina's for pizza, umberto's for arancini, and the il panino on parmenter st. for a outside dining and decently priced italian stand-by's. antico forno will work for that too.</content>

<content>"try the lobster pizza. chef-owner lydia shire has made it a local classic."
er ... what? A classic implies that it has a history ... ;) It is pretty good though. Adding lobster to just about anything makes it a keeper in my book.

also ... newbury street's food offerings aren't the best in town, but it's unfair to consider the whole situation awful.

Local Chains - Well. Uh. The only one I can think of is The Upper Crust. It's a pretty good local chain in my book ...

Larger chain - Capital Grille. It's pretty good as far as chains go. I've never felt hurried and I'm a sucker for a good steak or the lobster mac + cheese. I consider it one of the better steakhouses in town (not my favorite, but Top 10, perhaps Top 5)

And as you mentioned ... Trident is pretty awesome. They had cassoulet on the menu over the winter which makes me love them even more ... </content>

<content>lydia made lobster pizza at biba when it opened 20 years ago and it was on the menu the entire time the place was open...

if you read the op, they are NOT looking for chains.</content>

<content>ah, I didn't realize the dish had much of a history. I knew Lydia more for Locke-Ober ... by the time I could afford to eat a decent meal in Boston Biba was busy becoming Excelsior.

As for chains ... I realize the OP wasn't looking for one ... my comment was more to speak against the condemning of newbury st as a whole. It gets a bad rap (though some bits certainly deserve it)</content>

<content>Your hotel is close to Chinatown. Try Peach Farm there.
North End: My favorites are Prezza, Mama Maria's and Regina's for pizza.
Newbury St.: Great French bistro -- La Voille
Fanueil Hall: Suggest Todd English's Kingfish Hall
Also right near your hotel is Bina Osteria, excellent fine dining but expensive and some here think it has gone downhill a little since the original chef left. I still enjoy it though.
Have fun and let us know where you end up eating and what you think. </content>

<content>while i am a fan of some of the places you mention, mama maria and la voile would have made me pretty squirmy as a teen. my last dinner at la voile took over 3 hours just for 2 courses. i nearly went out of my mind. (our mains were lamb shank and rabbit terrine, both of which are obviously pre-cooked. i mean, really, what the hell??) my friend and i are 40ish, and we were very much the youngest people there too.

and i'm sorry, but i think kingfish is a ridiculous rip-off with a very tired menu.

to the op: are the teens, like 13, or 19?</content>
