Any good eats in Omaha?
Going to Omaha for the first time. Is there anything I must try there and any recommendations? Thanks for the input!

What area of town are you going to be staying in? Will you have a car? Are you willing to travel a bit for a good meal?

We plan on hitting up the zoo and have a car. We're willing to drive a bit for a good meal. We'd even hit up gourmet markets, bakeries and what not for good eats.
I was looking at Old Market area, Strategic Air and Space Museum as well. Any must sees in Omaha you care to share as well?
Thanks, for any input would be appreciated!

First off I would suggest making a day of the Zoo if you don't know anything about the Omaha zoo, We ended up doing it in two days (our kids are young)
We went to a burger joint pretty much down the road south of the Zoo called Stella's for a darn good burger, from a place with some history.
We also had breakfast at a place called Wheatfield's (IIRC) that had a huge menu, everything we sampled was awesome, they were IMHO worth the trip, reported to be amongst the best in town.
There was a place that they featured on Diner drive inns and dives that didn't have a sign for the restaurant out front so you kind of needed the adderes (can't remember the name) sounded like they had an interesting mix of food. We"ll look that place up next time we're visiting.

Currently dining in MPLS, but La Buvette is wonderful for a late afternoon glass of wine and cheese plate - never can speak for the service but the ambience makes up for it. M's Pub across the street. Killer duck salad...although that was a few years ago. The Flatiron! One of the better meals I can think of in the last few years. MAJOR portions though. And if you do ONE thing, venture to Benson for tapas and/or paella at Espana. SO worth the trip and sketchy drive! Many gems indeed. Enjoy!

njk has recommended some of Omaha's finest. However, if your zoo trip involves children, you may want to enjoy these on another visit. None are particularly family friendly in my opinion.

Dixie Quicks, Wheatfields, Espana, M's Pub, and La Buvette are among my favorites.
I just recently tried out Shucks Fish House, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Some of the best seafood I've had anywhere in the country.
