Cakes - Balboa Penninsula

We'll be having dinner on my husband's b'day on the peninsula in Balboa (near the Fun Zone) and I'd like to surprise him with a small, but beautiful and delicious cake. Any recs for a cakery nearby? Thanks so much.

I'd go with Susie Cakes at Newport and Irvine Blvd, on the Costa Mesa/NB border.

Their cakes are pretty amazing, IMO. I love their carrot cake but everything I've tried (including this really decadent multi-layer chocolate fudge cake) is really good.

Yes i second that. they have small cakes i think are about $30? it will feed about 4-5 people. the red velvet is amazing....
