The Friday Night Dinner Group went for Tapas

I'm a little late for this report, but I was a little lazy this past weekend what with the generally dreary weather.
Well, we went for tapas at Oro Reataurant on St Jacques (south side) just east of McGill. I think that it was a first time for anyone in our group to try tapas. It was excellent, but I can't compare it to the usual Chowhound favourite tapas restaurants, like Pinxto or Casa de tapas, which are mentioned often.
They have an assorted selection of tapas as well as several main courses, which our superb waiter, Moncof, guided us through. Several of our group shared several tapas including hummus, grilled huge shrimp and two others, which they really enjoyed. Two of us, including myself, had the three mini crab cakes as an appetizer and they were beautifully served, but in my opinion, they had too much filler to crab ratio. And then, terriric mains for those that ordered mains. I has the seafood cassoulet (no beans) which had a huge tentacle of exceptionally tender octopus, two huge shrimp, two huge scallops and a couple of clams and mussels in the shell. served in a tomato/wine broth. - delicious. Another had the fish and chips which she pronounced excellent and the piece de resistance, someone ordered the steak/frites (which he loved) which was accompanied with a huge half of a beef bone marrow bone, sliced vertically, which he didn't want. Two of us, including myself, shared it, and as that Food Network idiot would say, "Yummo"
Someone ordered a strawberry shortcake for dessert, usually not one of my favourites, but it was a huge portion which she shared with us, and it was superb. Our waiter, Moncof, told us it was made in house.
All in all, a wonderful dinner.

Wow your review sounds delicious! Is that the place right next door to Tribe Hyperclub? I always thought that place was for the club-goers?

Being a little beyond the age of a clubgoer, I had to look up the location of Tribe Hyperclub, and yes, it must be almost next door to Ora. However, there were no patrons in the restaurant who I would have thought were clubgoers - maybe we were there too early. In fact, there weren't many patrons, period - the place was rather empty.

Oops - it's called Ora, not Oro.
